St. Filippen (slow: Šentlipš ; formerly St. Filippen ob Reinegg ) is a place and a cadastral municipality in the market town of Brückl in the district of Sankt Veit an der Glan in Carinthia . The population on January 1, 2020 was 302 people.
The original name St. Filippen ob Reinegg goes back to Reinegg Castle near today's Donau Chemie, which served as a refuge. Its last owners were called the Lords of Reinegg.

The village lies at the foot of the Christofberg and forms the transition from the Görtschitztal to the Klagenfurt basin . In addition, the place is located on the Gurk , which in St. Filippen forms the district border between the St. Veit district and the Völkermarkt district.

Culture and sights
- As part of the 900 year celebration, a book on the history of St. Filippens was created.
- The Catholic parish church St. Filippen Hll. Philip and James is a late Gothic church and was first mentioned between 1096 and 1105. The consecration took place in 1528. In 1862, among other structural changes, the west tower was erected.

Infrastructure and history

The Görtschitztaler Bundesstraße runs through the village from north to south. In the west a road leads to the Christofberg and in the east several roads lead to the neighboring district of Völkermarkt. The local supplier of the village called "Pflegerle" was closed at the end of the 20th century.
Today's Gasthof Kurath originally consisted of two restaurants, the Gasthof Streicher and the Gasthof Kramer. Later on, Michael Kurath Senior merged the two inns and created the social meeting point for the local population.

In addition, the village's cultural life is enlivened today by the local parish council, so that nine wayside shrines and crosses were presented in a Marterl restoration campaign in 2017. In addition, it organizes two festivals a year, the parish festival and an early Christmas event.
Another traditional event of the place is the carnival, during which a parade through the village takes place, which ends at the Kurath inn. In this context, the St. Filippen fire brigade's masked ball is held every year. The erection of the maypole and the open day are also carried out by them. In 2011 the local fire brigade was allowed to be elected "Superwehr 2011".
Every 3 years the Landschaden Hunting Association organizes the Hunters Ball in St. Filippen.
