St. Georg (Hailtingen)
The Catholic parish church of St. Georg in Hailtingen , a district of Dürmentingen in the Biberach district in Baden-Württemberg , is a late Gothic church building from the 15th century that was redesigned in the late Baroque or Rococo style in the middle of the 18th century . The parish and church are first mentioned in a document in 1275. The church consecrated to St. George is now part of the Ertingen pastoral care unit in the Biberach deanery of the Rottenburg-Stuttgart diocese .
architecture
Off the west facade is the powerful, with a gable roof covered bell tower, the two stepped gables crowned. The bell storey is broken through on all four sides by coupled sound arcades .
The single nave nave is flat-roofed. A round arch opens to the retracted choir , which is spanned by a needle cap barrel. The ceilings of the choir and nave are decorated with rich rococo stucco and painted on the ceiling. The western end of the nave is formed by a gallery which rests on wooden pillars and to which a wooden staircase leads. The gallery parapet is decorated with stucco decoration.
Ceiling paintings
On the ceiling painting in the choir, Mary is depicted as the Queen of Heaven. The figures at the bottom right embody the four continents that bow before the cross and the monstrance . The ceiling painting of the nave is also dedicated to Mary, who is taken into heaven by the Trinity . In the stucco cartouches the four Latin church fathers Ambrosius of Milan , Augustine of Hippo , Gregory the Great and Jerome are depicted.
Leaded glass window
On the two lead glass windows with figurative representations, the martyr Crescentia and St. John Nepomuk are depicted, who put a finger on his lips as a sign of his silence.
