St. John the Baptist

The Church of St. John the Baptist on Marktplatz 22 is the Roman Catholic parish church in Heideck , a town in Central Franconia in the Roth district and thus in the planning region of Nuremberg . The place is in the metropolitan region of Nuremberg and in the Franconian Lake District . The building is registered under the monument number D-5-76-126-49 as an architectural monument in the Bavarian monument list.

history

The church was consecrated in 1457. In the late 18th century building expansions took place, the sacristy was 1763 cultivated , the nave was in 1779 and 1910 extended to the west.

Building description

The architectural styles are shaped by both the Middle Ages and the modern era . The hall church is predominantly Romanesque , while the retracted choir and bell tower are Gothic . The building is plastered . The nave is covered with a steep gable roof, inside it is provided with a wooden barrel vault . The choir has a five-eighth apse and a ribbed vault , the outer buttresses ensure stability. In the northern corner of the choir is the church tower made of sandstone blocks, which has an octagonal pointed helmet . During the last extension, a facade in the form of a tail gable was placed in front of the nave . In front of it is the portal with a hipped roof . Inside, an arcade separates the entrance area on the west side from the church hall.
