BW

St. Laurentius , a listed Roman Catholic branch church , is located in the Erlheim district of the Upper Palatinate community of Ursensollen in the Amberg-Sulzbach district . She is the St. Laurentius , and thus has a patronage that has been popular on the Lechfeld since the Battle of Hungary after 955 . Today the church belongs to the "parish community Hausen (Sankt Georg) and Hohenkemnath (Assumption of Mary)".

history

The local church of Oerlhaim was mentioned as early as 1010. At first this was a chaplain from the Haimhof , for which the Ettendorfer had the right to present . The right of occupation was transferred to the district judges of Amberg from the 14th century . In the registers of the diocese of Regensburg from 1438 a plebanus is mentioned here; Erlheim must therefore already have been its own parish. Until the Reformation in Erlheim two emerged Meßbenefizien , a Frühmess- and a Laurentiusbenefizium. When the Upper Palatinate became Protestant in 1556 , Erlheim became a branch of Allersburg , today a district of Hohenburg , but was incorporated into the evangelical community of Kümmersbruck . In 1590 Erlheim became an independent parish again. In the course of the Counter-Reformation Erlheim was again Catholic and again subordinated to the parish of Allersburg, in 1670 it came to the parish of Hausen and in 1687 to the parish Hohenkemnath . In a letter dated February 28, 1763, the right of presentation “by special sovereign grace” was transferred to Christian Floria von Frank, the owner of the Hohenkemnath Hofmark . The first pastor he presented was Georg Graf von Michelfeld.

Construction

The church is a plastered solid structure with a hipped roof . It has a drafted choir with a five-eighth closing from the Gothic period. The nave was later expanded. The church has a roof turret .

A cemetery to the church can be documented since 1723, but is likely to be much older. During excavation work in 1955, many human bones were found, which suggest an older cemetery north of the current one. The cast iron grave crosses from the 19th century in the cemetery are worth mentioning. The so-called “Totenweg” leads between Erlheim and Zant , indicating that the deceased were brought to Erlheim for burial by Zant.

In 1888 the church had to be closed due to dilapidation. It was repaired the following year and re benediziert . In 1977 the bell tower was renewed and copper roofing was installed. In 1965 an interior renovation was carried out by the painter Neunert from Amberg. The church was extensively renovated in 1991.

Interior

The baroque furnishings come from the Amberg master Franz Joachim Schlott. The church had only one altar until 1665. Around 1840 two side altars were acquired from the Amberg parish church of St. Martin . The right side altar is dedicated to St. Joseph and the left St. Maria consecrated. In 1862/1863 the altars were redesigned by the painter Meindl from Pfreimd . A way of the cross was also purchased at that time .
