The Roman Catholic branch church St. Leonhard is the village church of Adelsberg , a district of Gemünden am Main in the Lower Franconian district of Main-Spessart . The church is one of the architectural monuments of Gemünden am Main and is registered under the number D-6-77-131-55 in the Bavarian list of monuments . Adelsberg is part of the parish community "Unter der Homburg".

history

Adelsberg was a branch of the Karsbach parish, which had existed since 1233, and changed to the newly founded Wernfeld parish in 1596 . The first church was built in 1335. The steeple is still there today. The choir and nave were built in 1732.

description

The compact former choir tower stands in the east. It has a tent roof and arched sound windows . Its basement with cross vault is now the sacristy . The choir, which has just closed, and the nave, both of which are flat-roofed, connect to the west. The choir has one, the nave three window axes . The windows are segment arcs .

Furnishing

The equipment comes from the construction period. The three altar leaves were created by the painter Georg Martin Bolster. On the high altar the Virgin and Child are depicted between figures of Saints Peter and Paul . The altar panel of the left side altar shows St. John Nepomuk , that of the right side altar shows St. Florian. The pulpit on the north wall of the nave is decorated with figures of the four evangelists . The organ is set up on the western gallery . The bells date from 1888 and 1952. The tones are a ′ - c ″.
