Building description

Choir front wall with the representation of St. Leonhard

The nave of the church consists of two window axes and has a flat ceiling . On the north side of the nave is the arched entrance with a rustic frame. In this there are separate windows with round arches as well as a gallery on the inside on the west side . The choir with 3/8 ending is slightly drawn in. This contains a barrel vault , which is divided into three narrow yokes with stitch caps by ridges . Two buttresses are attached to the outer facade of the choir. On the front wall of the choir there is a blind pedicle from the early 18th century. A modern mural of St. Leonhard is painted in this, surrounded by pilasters . The church tower is built in the northern choir angle and with a gable roof covered. Shamrock arch friezes can be found on the church tower on the upper floor and on the sloping gable. There are sound arcades on three sides of the upper floor of the tower . The bell cage is marked 1775 MIGB . The sacristy is located in the basement of the church tower . This is equipped with a ribbed vault with a disc keystone.

Furnishing

The high altar is a marbled wooden structure with gilded decoration and was created around 1770. The high altar is a work inspired by the transept altars of the monastery church of St. Alexander and Theodor von Ottobeuren . On the altar sheet is St. Leonhard depicted how this prisoner visited. This is flanked by diagonally placed free columns. To the right and left of it are mounted wooden figures of St. Luke and John from the middle of the 18th century.

The two side altars are, like the high altar, marbled wooden structures from the same period. The altarpieces show St. Francis on the left and St. Anthony of Padua on the right . Both altar pieces are flanked by pilaster strips with rocailles decor . The ceiling paintings of the church were created around 1730. In the center of the nave the Trinity is depicted with Mary and St. Leonhard. The oval corner fields show angels with attributes of the three Christian virtues and the New Testament . A painting in the manner of Johann Friedrich Sichelbein from the 18th century depicts the crucifixion.

In the church there are a number of wooden figures. These are from the time around 1720/1730 a St. Sebastian and from 1720 a Salvator. All of the depictions of St. Leonhard, St. Florian , St. Georg and Martin, a crucifix and a painful Mother of God . Another wooden figure in the chancel, generally for St. Magnus held, is more likely to represent a holy bishop, because of the dragon as an attribute of St. Hilary or St. Godehard.
