A chapel with the Martins patronage already existed in the 10th century , which suggests its great age. This chapel was demolished because it was in disrepair and replaced by a new building in 1781, which was built according to the plans of Conradus Neck (born November 25, 1730 in Solothurn ; † January 12, 1810 in Steinfeld ), a monk of the Steinfeld monastery .

The square tower - with round arched and pointed arched openings - from the 16th century has been preserved. A vestibule is in front of it in the west, through whose portal one enters the church. The neo-Romanesque hall is 32.80 m long and 10.30 m wide and stands on sloping terrain in the middle of a cemetery. The plastered quarry stone walls each have four arched windows on the sides of the nave and others in the choir . A sacristy was added to the east after 1830 .
Furnishing
The high altar is from the first half of the 17th century. The confessionals and the pulpit are from the 18th century. The baroque organ was installed in 1868, it comes from the Benedictine Abbey of St. Matthias in Trier and was made around 1720.
