history

The oldest part of the church is the church tower from the Romanesque period, possibly over 1000 years old . In 1766 the church at that time was expanded by building a choir .

Between 1888 and 1890 the nave was rebuilt according to plans by the architect Wilhelm Hector ( Saarbrücken-St. Johann ).

architecture

View inside the church

The church building is divided into the four-axis nave with an adjoining seven-sided polygonal choir. The choir is flanked on the southwest side by the church tower with a pyramid roof and on the northeast side by a sacristy extension . Inside the single-nave nave, a division into four bays can be seen. Each of the yokes is spanned by a four-part ribbed vault.

Furnishing

The painting on the choir wall inside the church dates from the time the nave was built at the end of the 19th century. You can see a scenic depiction of “Christ Regnans” , flanked by a figure of Mary and a figure of Martin who adore him. In addition, two archangels blowing trumpets are shown.
