history

The first church was built in Oberhausen in the 11th century. The new Gothic building was consecrated in 1420. The current church was started in 1684 under the Huglfingen master mason Michael Mägele and consecrated in 1686. In 1902 the church was expanded to the west, and a large sign in the neo- baroque style was added on the south side .

architecture

In the southern corner of the choir rises the bell tower with its square base from the Gothic period. The upper tower is richly structured by cornices and dazzling fields and is broken through by numerous openings and coupled sound arcades . The nave , a hall building with a simple west gallery , is illuminated from windows rounded at the top and bottom. The drafted choir closes with a five-eighth closing . The choir and nave are covered by barrels of stab cap.

Ceiling frescoes

The needle cap barrels are decorated with frescoes by Johann Sebastian Troger . They are marked with the year 1784 and depict scenes from the legend of St. Mauritius , the patron saint of the church. In the choir the glory of the saint is depicted, in the nave his interrogation and his martyrdom.
