The Catholic parish church of St. Nikolaus in Morenhoven , a district of the Swisttal community in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia , was built in the 19th century. The St. Nicholas consecrated church is a protected monument . The parish of St. Nikolaus is part of the Swisttal pastoral care area in the Meckenheim-Rheinbach dean's office in the Archdiocese of Cologne .

history

Until the 1930s, the church square was surrounded by a moat that led into the church pond towards the Swist . The church and parish of Morenhoven, as a subsidiary parish, belonged to the parish of Miel for a long time . It was not until 1610 or 1634 that an independent pastor was established in Morenhoven, which was financed by a donation country until the 20th century .

description

The nave and choir of the old church were demolished in 1826. The preserved tower was raised by one floor and given a helmet . A hall with a semicircular end of the choir was added to the old tower . The church was on December 6, 1827 benediziert . After damage in World War II , the church was repaired and solemnly repossessed on August 23, 1948.

Furnishing

Like the stones, the pulpit with the Michael statue and the lower parts of the side altars come from the demolished Servite monastery in the Rheinbach forest , which was lifted in the course of secularization .

Leaded glass window

The leaded glass windows were used between 1909 and 1911. They show Mary and Joseph , the Saints Nicholas , Sebastian , Anna , Aloisius , Agnes and the patroness of church music , St. Cecilia .

Bells

In 1917 a bell from 1831 was melted down for war purposes. The other two bells from the 14th and 17th centuries have been preserved.
