description

The elongated hall church was built in the 16th century using the Romanesque predecessor church. The slightly retracted church tower in the west dates from the 13th century. Its top floor and its pyramid roof are slated . On the south side of the nave are two tall rectangular windows. There are high, two-lane tracery windows in the east wall . The nave is covered with a wooden barrel vault . There are single-storey galleries on three sides , which stand on square stands with capitals . The late Gothic winged altar , made between 1502 and 1509, comes from a workshop in Saalfeld. In the center of the shrine there is a crucifixion group , flanked by James the Elder (left) and Laurentius (right). There are three saints each on the left and right wings . The exterior has painted depictions of the birth of Christ and the adoration of the kings . The crucifix was made in the last quarter of the 14th century. The organ with 13 registers , divided into 2 manuals and pedal , was built in 1900 by Adam Eifert . In 1986 the interior was restored .

Large mouse ears live in the roof of the church in summer .
