The Catholic branch church of St. Pankratius in Mitterfischen , a district of the municipality of Pähl in the Upper Bavarian district of Weilheim-Schongau , is essentially a late-Gothic church building, which was redesigned in Baroque style around 1680/90 and redesigned in 1795. The church is dedicated to St. Pancras , a Roman martyr who is also venerated as an ice saint . The church is a protected architectural monument . It is surrounded by the cemetery wall, on the west side of which a wicker gate opens.

history

In 1992/93 the church was expanded. The old church was partially demolished, only the tower, the sign and the south and west walls of the nave remained. The ceiling paintings also date from this period.

architecture

A sign is attached to the west facade . On the north side of the west facade is the bell tower, on whose square substructure an octagonal structure with an onion dome is placed. The substructure is decorated with recessed glare fields, in the middle of which narrow, loopholes-like openings are cut on the north side. The tower octagon is structured by corner pilasters , cranked cornices and numerous transversely oval , round-arched and cloverleaf-shaped windows. In the east, the sacristy is attached to the choir .

The single nave nave is covered by a hollow vault. A basket arch leads to the retracted, rectangular closed choir, which is spanned by a barrel vault. A simple gallery forms the western end of the nave .

Leaded glass window

The lead glass windows were made in 1896/97. The windows are provided with inscriptions showing the year of their creation and the names of the donors. The hearts of Mary and Jesus are depicted on the windows, as well as St. Joseph , St. Conrad and St. Sebastian . One window is dedicated to the teaching of Mary.
