St. Peter and Paul in Tattenhausen

The Catholic branch church of St. Peter and Paul is essentially a late Gothic architectural monument in Tattenhausen near Dasing .

history

The church was built around 1500 but underwent major changes in 1767 and at the end of the 18th century. On June 24, 1795, the nave was consecrated by the Augsburg auxiliary bishop Johann Nepomuk von Ungelter . In 1897 the building was extended to the west. The tower was renovated around 1957. Until about 150 years ago, the church was known as a pilgrimage church under the name “Our Lady in Misery”.

Building description

St. Peter and Paul is a flat-roofed hall building with a retracted, low choir under a needle cap barrel . The Gothic, slender gable roof tower with field structure is partially integrated into the church on the north side.

Furnishing

The frescoes from 1767 are by Sigismund Reis . In the choir they show scenes from the life of Mary : The Immaculate Conception , Annunciation , Candlemas and Assumption into Heaven . In the nave, Mary is depicted as intercessor before Christ with a cross. The saints are Peter and Paul , as well as Saint Apollonia . In the lower area you can see pastors and farmers in the costumes of the 18th century. On the side there are four cartouches with the virtues of justice, faith, hope and love. The classical altars and the pulpit are from the end of the 18th century. The high altar shows Mary with the Christ child, the excerpt God the Father with a globe, on the sides figures of Peter and Paul around 1500. In the left side altar there are figures of Saints Leonhard , Johannes and Urban , in the right Ulrich , Barbara and Martin . The figure of the Mother of God in a rosary on the processional pole is a soft style carving around 1430. The figures of Saints Barbara and Catherine date from around 1480/1490.
