The branch church St. Philipp and Walburga is a monument in Rohrbach near Friedberg in the Bavarian - Swabian district of Aichach-Friedberg .

history

The Romanesque church was probably built on a hill between 1250 and 1300. The roof structure is from the late 15th century. In 1520 the patron saints St. Aegidus and St. Walburga were mentioned. Later the church patron saint was St. Mary Magdalene , today St. Philip and Walburga. In 1760 the interior ceiling was redesigned. A sacristy was added in the 19th century. Today the church is a branch of the parish of St. Georg in Bachern.

Building description

The church is a flat-roofed hall building with a retracted, barrel-vaulted rectangular choir and simple facades. To the east are the nave , choir and sacristy, each with its own structure. A gable roof tower is set in the nave to the north . Access to the church is through a southern sign .

Furnishing

The ceiling fresco in the nave from 1760 was created by Sigismund Reis . Saints Philip and Walburga are shown in front of the Most Holy Trinity ; including a view of the town of Rohrbach, the church still without a sacristy. The altars are from the late 17th century. The altarpiece of the main altar shows Christ as the savior of the world. The figures represent Saints Philip and Walburga. Saint Mary Magdalene is shown in the excerpt . The altar panel of the right side altar shows St. Leonhard and, in the excerpt, the Mother of God and St. Michael . The left side altar shows the Mother of God and God the Father . The life-size figure group in the choir with Scourge Savior and Mater Dolorosa is Bartholomew Öberl emerged and the 18th century in the first third. The figures of Saints Anthony and Francis Xavier are from the late, the crucifix on the choir wall from the middle of the 18th century.
