description

A chapel is attested as early as 1325, which existed for a long time. Today's rectangular hall church with a three-sided, eastern end goes back to a Gothic church made of rubble stones around 1400 . The portal is in an annex to the west . The church was redesigned in baroque style in 1777 . A mighty eight-sided roof turret with a tower clock rises from the saddle roof of the nave , on which sits a hood , which is crowned by a lantern with a tower ball . There are three church bells hanging in the tower , two of which are made of cast steel .

The interior has two-storey galleries and is covered with a wooden beam ceiling. The church furnishings are from the construction time. The carved statues come from a former winged altar from 1474, Simon Zelotes , Maria and Judas Thaddäus from the shrine and Saints Bartholomäus , Christophorus , Sebastian and Maria Magdalena from the wings. All statues are attributed to Hans Gottwalt von Lohr from Saalfeld, a student of Tilman Riemenschneider , they are considered to be one of the main works of his last creative period around 1515. The figures were relegated to the attic in 1777 when the church was baroque . In 1891 they were used to frame the pulpit . Its final location has been the church interior since 1973/1974. On the north wall are Simon the Zelotes, Mary and Judas Thaddäus. On the south wall are Bartholomäus, Christophorus, Sebastian and Maria Magdalena.

The organ with 12 registers , distributed over a manual and pedal , was built in 1825 by Georg Christoph Hofmann, restored in 1978 by Hans Raatz and in 1986 by Jehmlich Orgelbau Dresden .
