The Evangelical Lutheran village church of St. Spiritus is located at Geschwister-Scholl-Straße 6 in Großbrüchter , a district of the community of Helbedündorf in the Kyffhäuserkreis in Thuringia . St. Spiritus belongs to the parish Großbrüchter / Kleinbrüchter ranging Holzthaleben the parish Ebeleben-Holzthaleben in the parish of Bad Frankenhausen Sondershausen the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The hall church with choir tower , located on the slope above the lower village, was built according to the inscription in 1593–97. Renovations took place in the 17th century, 1799 and 1840. In 1987 the roof collapsed. The church equipment suffered heavy losses as a result. Since 1993 the church has been rebuilt and the interior has been repaired. The nave is covered with a gable roof. The portal in the south is pointed arched and profiled with round bars . The three-storey square church tower in the east has a recessed octagonal storey with a curved dome , which is flanked by pointed corner turrets. The windows of the church are ogival. At the sound arcades are Dreischneuß in the tracery . The wooden barrel vault of the hall has been reconstructed . The galleries , built around 1600, have parapets made of balusters . The retracted choir has a ribbed vault decorated with stucco on leaf-shaped consoles . In the 19th century the church was painted with lilies as a motif . The choir stalls and the patron s box date from the 17th century, the baptismal font from the 13th century. The cafeteria is medieval .
