description

From the first church only the sacristy and the ground floor of the church tower remain. The current hall church with the choir tower and the sacristy in the northeast corner was built on this between 1600 and 1612 . The helmet of the tower consists of two covers , which with an open lantern are connected. The sound arcades of the tower are designed as late Gothic tracery windows . In the belfry hanging three iron chilled cast iron bells , which in 1920 by Schilling & Lattermann were cast. On a corner stone of the tower is a bearded gaffer who represents the builder of the church. The interior of the church, completed in 1630, was changed in 1784. A two-storey gallery was drawn in on the north wall and another one was built above the choir on which the organ stands. In 1912 the interior was extensively remodeled. The organ gallery was relocated to the opposite west side, whereby the Gothic architecture of the choir came into full effect. The present organ, donated by Duke Georg II , also dates from this time . The baroque altar in the form of a sarcophagus from 1692 comes from the Meiningen Castle Church . The ornaments of the galleries, the pulpit and the ceiling are kept in the Rococo style.
