St. Trinity

The Evangelical Lutheran listed church St. Trinitatis is in Wasungen , a town in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district in Thuringia . The parish Wasungen belongs to the parish area Wasungen in the parish of Meiningen the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The nave of the hall church was built between 1584 and 1596, the choir with a 3/8 end to the southeast was built in 1600. The sacristy in the southeast corner was added in 1609. The bell tower on a square floor plan with remains of masonry of geosteten earlier building of 1230 stands sideways to the north. In 1708 the tower was given an eight-sided attachment on which a curved hood sits, and above it an open lantern , crowned with a tower ball .

The interior , which is covered with a wooden barrel vault , has double-storey galleries running around on three sides . The church furnishings were created around 1700, the stone baptismal font as early as 1609. In the church there are three paintings by the last Henneberg counts . In 1906 colored windows were installed in the choir . The organ with 17 registers , divided into two manuals and a pedal , was built in 1961 by Jehmlich Orgelbau Dresden .
