history

Filial church of St. Nicholas

The possessions in Stadel were very fragmented over the centuries: the Wittelsbacher , Donnersberger (near Nordendorf), Graisbacher and the monasteries of Thierhaupten and Niederschönenfeld acted as landlords . From 1600 the following appeared as landlords: Hofmark Sandizell , Hofmark Pöttmes , Hofmark Unterbaar and Hofmark Walda, as well as the parish priests Holzheim and the Filialkirche Stadel.

Until June 30, 1972, the independent municipality of Stadel belonged to the district of Neuburg an der Donau and was then added to the district of Donau-Ries , which until May 1, 1973 was called the district of Nördlingen-Donauwörth , as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
