The Gersag Stadium is a football stadium in Emmenbrücke in the municipality of Emmen in the canton of Lucerne . It is the home stadium of the football club FC Emmenbrücke , which currently plays in the seventh highest Swiss league.
Guest performance by FC Luzern
From mid-June 2009, the venue was expanded because FC Luzern , which plays in the Super League , temporarily played its home games in Emmenbrücke in the 2009/10 and 2010/11 seasons .
The reason for the expansion was the demolition of the old Allmend stadium in Lucerne and the Swissporarena , which was built on the same site and opened at the end of July 2011. During this transitional phase, the Gersag stadium offered 8,700 spectators, of which 3,915 were covered seats and 4,785 were standing uncovered.
Opposite the main grandstand, a large, covered seating area was constructed with tubular steel grandstands on an earth wall. The old floodlight system was removed and replaced by a system with 4 × 700 lux . The old display board was replaced by a new one. The rows behind the goals were extended and extended to the two stands along the square. Seats were set up for the journalists in the main stand. In front of the stands, safety nets were put up and other small renovation work was carried out.
Most of the construction work had to be finished by FC Luzern's first game of the season on July 26, 2009 against Grasshopper Club Zurich . The FCL won 2-1 against the Grasshoppers from Zurich in front of 7,145 spectators.
The Fanion team of FC Emmenbrücke (2nd interregional league) and partly also its 2nd team (4th league) played their home games during the guest appearance of FC Luzern on the main field, the remaining teams of FC Emmenbrücke played on secondary courts.
Guest performance by SC Kriens
During the construction of the Kleinfeld sports center , SC Kriens played in the Gersag stadium from March 2017 to the end of June 2018.
Before and after the expansion, the Gersag stadium has 532 seats and 3,000 standing places.
