The stadium on Lochowdamm (also called BSV-Platz ) was a sports facility for football and field handball in the Berlin district of Schmargendorf .
history
In 1909, the BTuFC Britannia built the Britannia sports field next to the then Berlin Gasworks V on Forckenbeckstraße . This was later extended to the stadium on Lochowdamm. As part of the 1936 Summer Olympics , field handball games were played in the stadium .
After the stadium was completely destroyed in the Second World War, work began in 1948 to build a grandstand on rubble. On May 5, 1951, the Wilmersdorf Stadium was opened by the Governing Mayor of Berlin, Ernst Reuter .
