The Seddinsee is an elongated lake on the south-eastern city limits of Berlin .

It extends over a length of 2.9 kilometers at a width of about 500 to 1000 meters, between the location Gosen and the district Schmoeckwitz of Treptow-Köpenick . The maximum depth is seven meters, the water surface around 370 hectares. At the northern end the Gosener Kanal flows into the lake, which touches the Dahme at the southwestern end , so that the lake can be seen as a side bay of the river. Together with the Langen See and the Zeuthener See , which are extensions of the Dahme, as well as the side bay Große Krampe and the Krossinsee a little further south, the Seddinsee is part of an extensive lake landscape in southern Köpenick. The Oder-Spree Canal branches off in the southeast of the lake .

The Seddinsee (SdS) as waterway class IV is a section of the federal waterway Seddinsee and Gosener Canal (WSG), which legally belongs to the Spree-Oder waterway , for which the Berlin Waterways and Shipping Office is responsible.

On the northeast bank there is a cottage settlement belonging to Gosen, otherwise the area around the lake is forested. There are several small islands in the lake: Immediately at the confluence with the Dahme or at the southern end of the Long Lake are Weidenwall and Werderchen , halfway up the lake are the islands Seddinwall and Kleiner Seddinwall and, in front of the above-mentioned cottage settlement, the islands Nixenwall , Dommelwall and Berg.

At the northern end in particular, there are natural moorland areas on the shore, which, along with other areas - the Gosener Meadows - are under nature protection and in which there are layers of peat up to seven meters thick. However, there is also a sandy beach. The water slopes quite shallowly and is therefore also suitable for bathing children. The lake is also used by sailors and paddlers who benefit from the numerous waterway connections that start from the lake.
