Stadsregiorail

Stadsregiorail (previously StadsRegioRail KAN ) was a local transport infrastructure project in the area of public transport in the former Stadsregio Arnhem-Nijmegen in the Dutch province of Gelderland . The aim of the project was to improve the connection in local public transport by increasing the number and frequency of railway lines and building new stations. The Plusregio worked together with the province of Gelderland, the municipalities, ProRail , NS and the Ministry of Infrastructures and Waterstaat . With the dissolution of the Plusregio on January 1, 2015, the Stadsregiorail program was also ended.

The following projects were implemented as part of the Stadsregiorail program:

• New construction of the Mook Molenhoek station in the municipality of Mook en Middelaar (completion: 2009)
• New construction of the Westervoort train station in the municipality of Westervoort (completion: 2011)
• New construction of the Nijmegen Goffert station in the municipality of Nijmegen (completion: 2014)
• Construction of a turning system at Elst station in the municipality of Overbetuwe (completion: 2015)
• Construction of a turning system at Wijchen railway station in the municipality of Wijchen (completion: 2015)

The following projects continue to exist and are managed by the municipality of Zevenaar :

• Expansion of the Zevenaar – Didam section of the Winterswijk – Zevenaar railway line to a double-track line (planned completion: 2020)
• New construction of the Zevenaar Poort station in the municipality of Zevenaar (planned completion: 2020)
