Stanislav Šesták [ ˈstanislaf ˈʃɛstaːk ] (born December 16, 1982 in Prešov ) is a Slovak football player . It was last under contract as a striker for Ferencváros Budapest in the 2015/16 season .

Career

In the club

Šesták moved from 1. FC Tatran Prešov to ŠK Slovan Bratislava in January 2002 . There he played until December 2003 before he went to MŠK Žilina , who became Slovak champions with him in 2007 . With 15 goals he was the second best scorer in the Slovak league in the 2006/07 season. In three seasons for MŠK Žilina he scored 45 goals in 72 games.

At the beginning of the 2007/08 season , Šesták moved to the Ruhr area for VfL Bochum . He signed a four-year contract there. The 1.79 m tall striker replaced the at Bayer 04 Leverkusen migrated scorer of the 2006/07 season Theofanis Gekas . Šesták scored 28 times in the Bundesliga and was also the third best scorer in the league in the 2007/08 season with 13 goals and nine assists behind Bayern's Luca Toni and Bremen's Diego . On April 11, 2009, he scored his first hat-trick in the Bundesliga within 27 minutes against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim . Because of the half-time break between the first two goals, this cannot be called flawless .

For the 2010/11 season, Šesták was awarded to MKE Ankaragücü for one year . He later moved permanently to MKE Ankaragücü. In September 2011, he moved to league rivals Bursaspor , where he got a three-year contract. In the summer break of 2014, VfL Bochum brought him back for the 2014/15 season. On May 18, 2015, Šesták asked for his contract to be terminated immediately. The reason was too little time under coach Gertjan Verbeek . In the summer he switched to the Hungarian first division side Frencvaros, where the German coach Thomas Doll is employed.

National team

Stanislav Šesták has played 55 times for the Slovak national team . He scored his first goal on October 13, 2007 against San Marino . In qualifying for the 2010 World Cup , he scored six goals in six games, helping the Slovak team to take part in the World Cup for the first time since the country gained independence. At the World Cup he came to three missions.

At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was included in the Slovak squad. He was allowed to make his only appearance in the round of 16 when he came on immediately after the 3-0 win for Germany in the last third of the game.
