Stanislaw Tschistow began his career as a hockey player at HK Awangard Omsk , for which he was active from 1999 to 2002 in the Russian Super League and was runner-up in the 2000/01 season. He was then selected in the first round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft as the fifth player in total by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim , with whom he lost to the New Jersey Devils in the 2002/03 Stanley Cup finals. The lockout during the NHL season 2004/05 bridged the attacker in the farm team Anaheims, the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks from the American Hockey League . After resumption of play, the right-handed player returned to his Russian homeland, where he played for HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the 2005/06 season , with which he won the Spengler Cup .

In the summer of 2006, the Russian was initially signed by his ex-club from Anaheim, but after only one game they gave him up to league rivals Boston Bruins , for which he scored 13 points in 60 games by the end of the season. For the 2007/08 season, the winger returned to Russia, where he was first Russian champion with Salawat Julajew Ufa . After the season he signed a contract with his ex-club HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the newly founded Continental Hockey League , which was extended from 2010 to 2011.

In May 2011, Tschistow was signed together with Petri Kontiola from HK Tractor Chelyabinsk .

In May 2017, Tschistow was signed by HK Spartak Moscow , but could not prevail there and was therefore initially used at Chimik Woskressensk in the Wysschaja Hockey League .
