Konrad von Liechtenstein (* around 1290; † 1354 ) was Bishop of Chiemsee from 1330 to 1354 .

Life

Konrad came from the ministerial family of noble lords of Liechtenstein, who were wealthy in Styria . His father was Rudolf I. zu Frauenburg . Konrad studied 1314-1319 at the University of Bologna . He was provost of Maria Saal and canon in Freising . In 1324 he received from Pope John XXII. a canonical in Passau .

After the death of the Chiemsee Bishop Ulrich von Montpreis , the Salzburg Archbishop Friedrich III. von Leibnitz Konrad von Liechtenstein as his successor. Like his predecessors, he also worked as auxiliary bishop in Salzburg. In 1338 he acquired a neighboring property to expand the Chiemseehof in Salzburg , which served as the residence of the Chiemsee bishops. Towards the end of his life he began building a Lady Chapel there, which could not be consecrated until 1359 by his successor Gerhoh von Waldeck .

In his will of October 6, 1335, Konrad designated Salzburg Cathedral as his burial place. After his death in early November 1354 he was buried there in front of the Marien Altar.
