Hugo von Schärfenberg

Hugo von Schärfenberg († 1359 ) was bishop of Chiemsee in 1359 .

Life

Hugo came from the family of the Lords of Schärfenberg (now Svibno / Slovenia ), who gained importance as ministerials of the Counts of Görz . Hugo's year and place of birth are not known. It is documented that he was domicellar around 1320 and canon of Salzburg in 1357 .

After the death of the Chiemsee Bishop Gerhoh von Waldeck in 1359, the Salzburg Archbishop Ortolf von Weißeneck appointed Hugo von Schärfenberg as his successor. A short time later, Bishop Hugo died. It is not known where his body was buried.
