Georg von Neuberg (also Georg von Neidberg or Georg von Neitberg ; * in the 14th century ; † 1393 ) was Bishop of Chiemsee from 1387 to 1393 .

Life

Georg came from the ministerial family of the Lords von Neuberg , who were based in Styria . He was Canon of Salzburg and was entrusted in June 1382 by Pope Clement VII with the office of Salzburg Dean Ortolf von Offenstetten , who had been elected by the cathedral chapter , although he opposed the archbishop. 1384 he became the provost of the Augustinian Canons Berchtesgaden providiert .

Since he was unable to assert himself in both offices, he was appointed Friedrich's successor by his uncle, Archbishop Pilgrim II of Puchheim , after the death of Chiemsee Bishop Friedrich . During his term of office several episcopal official acts are documented, which he carried out as auxiliary bishop in Salzburg outside of his district; among other things he consecrated the church in Friesach in Carinthia .

Georg von Neuberg died between October 20 and 31, 1393. It is not known where his body was buried.
