Stanton Moore (* 9. July 1972 in New Orleans ) is an American radio - and jazz - drummer .

Life

Stanton Moore grew up in his native New Orleans and is deeply committed to the music scene in his homeland. The main influences are Meter's drummer Zigaboo fashion list and his personal mentor Johnny Vidacovich. In the early 1990s he founded the funk band Galactic with Rich Vogel and Robert Mercurio , which is stylistically based on The Meters, but also takes influences from other directions. So far he has released eleven albums with Galactic. Moore made other contacts in New Orleans and stepped in with All Kooked Out! embarked on a solo side career in 1998; five more albums followed under his own name.

In addition, Moore also worked as a session musician for u. a. Osborne differently . With Charlie Hunter , Skerik , Marco Benevento and Mike Dillon he formed the quintet Garage A Trois , with which he released four albums. He collaborated with James Singleton , Michael Ray , Dr. John , John Scofield , Dr. Lonnie Smith and Karl Denson . Although rooted in jazz and funk, he worked on the 2005 album In the Arms of God with the heavy metal band Corrosion of Conformity . In 2010 he published a textbook called Groove Alchemy with accompanying CD and DVD.
