Star against the Forces of Evil (Original title: Star vs. the Forces of Evil ) is an American animated series that was produced by Disney Television Animation from 2015 to 2019 . The idea comes from Daron Nefcy .

Star Butterfly comes from the dimension Mewni, an other world that is only separated from the human world by a thin membrane. Dimensional scissors enable a passage between the worlds. All kinds of human-animal beings live in Mewni, including malignant ones. Mewni is a matriarchate and is ruled by Queen Moon as a woman. Her daughter Star Butterfly receives the magic scepter from Mewni on her 14th birthday as a symbol of power and rule. As the future ruler, she must learn to use the scepter. She promptly sets the castle on fire and is then sent to the human world for improvement. But even without the magic scepter, the princess already has enormous powers. Marco Diaz, Stars Sidekick in the human world, tries in vain to limit their abilities. The series not only fights various fights with the beings from Mewni - for example with Ludo, a bird hybrid - but also stars growing up and their everyday problems.

Star Butterfly is a magical princess from the Mewni dimension. She has a wand that her mother gave her on her fourteenth birthday. But after a major mishap on her part, she is sent to earth as an exchange student, where she finds accommodation with the Diaz family. There she uses her staff to make life easier and to fight against Ludo's monster army.
She is a very energetic and friendly girl who could also be described as slightly crazy. She is optimistic and open, loves to have fun and help others, because in her eyes strangers are just friends you have not yet met. At the beginning, Star was prejudiced against monsters and called them evil. But over time she sees her flaws and becomes more tolerant. After all, she fights for the rights of monsters on Mewni.
Star has light skin tone, blue eyes, knee-length blonde hair and wears a pink heart on each cheek that changes shape depending on her mood. She often wears a mint-colored dress with a pink octopus in the middle. She also wears striped tights and burgundy-colored boots with the eyes and teeth of a crocodile. One accessory that she always wears is her red headband with two horns that she received from Tom. Their style of clothing is colorful and fancy every time, compared to those of the other characters.
Star secretly falls in love with Marco, who does not return this love at first. He found out on the day of the song. Some time later, he also began to love Star, who is now back with her ex-boyfriend Tom. They destroy the curse of the blood moon that locked them together, but it turned out that it wasn't a curse. After the magic is destroyed, they come together.
Marco Diaz is Stars' new best friend on earth and a partner in their interdimensional adventures. Before he met Star, he was known as the caution type. He is a responsible and loyal boy who always stands by the star. The friendship makes Marco more self-confident and ready to take risks. He trains the karate discipline Tang Soo Do and receives the red belt in the course of the series.
Marco has been in love with Jackie-Lynn Thomas since kindergarten. But he doesn't manage to get closer to her at first. Step by step he builds a relationship with her and they start dating. Marco is an average sized teenager of Latin American descent. He has tanned skin, dark brown hair, and brown eyes. His everyday outfit consists of a red hoodie , dark gray trousers and olive green shoes. Its special feature is its birthmark under the right eye.
Ludo is Star's archenemy and is always trying to steal her wand. At the end of the first season he is kicked out of his castle by Toffee. He fights his way through the wilderness of Mewni and becomes entangled in Toffee's plans. After this incident he lets himself be thrown back into the depths of space, where after some time, having gone mad, his "little brother" Dennis encourages him to rebuild Avarius Castle and to lead a new, peaceful life.
Jackie-Lynn Thomas is the girl Marco is in love with. She enjoys skateboarding and is with Marco from the second to the third season until she breaks up with him and enters a relationship with a French girl named Chloe in the fourth season .
Janna Ordonia is a mysterious girl who goes in the same class as Star and Marco. It gathers a lot of information, which is why it has all of Marco's personal information, including his passwords and biometric data. Janna is of Filipino descent and can hold her pulse for 60 seconds. She is interested in demonology and sorcery .
Glossaryck is Stars' teacher. For generations it has lived in the Butterfly family's magic book, which, as soon as the first-born princess turns fourteen, is passed on by her mother, the queen, along with the royal wand. He is the most powerful being in the entire universe and likes pudding.
Toffee is the antagonist of the series, who after his death in an explosion in the season finale of the first season in Avarius Castle was able to transfer his spirit into the body of Ludo, with whom he now shares one and the same body. Star's mother, Queen Moon Butterfly, fought toffee when she was young after he killed her mother. He is finally destroyed in the third season of Star.
Eclipsa Butterfly is an old queen and author of the "Forbidden Chapter" which contains only dark magic. She was long suspected to be Stars great (× 7) grandmother , but it turned out that her child Meteora was exchanged for a strange child, after which she cannot be Stars ancestor. Eclipsa left her husband for a monster she loved. Star let her rule over Mewni until Eclipsa returned it to Moon.
Tom Lucitor is Star's demon ex-boyfriend. He becomes irritable very quickly and has an anti-aggression trainer on hand to help him calm down in the event that he can no longer control himself. He won Marco as his friend after they spent a day in Tom's carriage together. Tom and Marco also share their love for the boy band Love Sentence . Tom will eventually ascend the throne as the prince of the underworld .
Princess Pony Head is Star's best friend in Mewni. Drawn as a floating, purple unicorn head , a trail of sparkling stars emerges from her neck.
Ludo's animals "spider" and "eagle" are the animals that Ludo tamed on Mewni. You obey his word.
Muckifrosch was once one of Ludo's assistants until he became a father when Ludo gave him the "Muckibabys". He is a spy and a looter by profession.

The series was written by Daron Nefcy . Dave Wasson is the producer and Jordana Arkin is the screenwriter, both of whom were also co-executive producers. The first episode was previewed on January 18, 2015 on Disney XD . The regular broadcast was from March 30, 2015 on Disney XD . The German premiere took place on July 20, 2015 on Disney XD . The second season ran from July 11, 2016.
The theme music was composed by Bred Breeck , who was also responsible for the theme music in the series Welcome to Gravity Falls . There is also a covered version of Alex Hirsch in the role of Stan Pines from Welcome to Gravity Falls.
