Stari Kuty ( Ukrainian Старі Кути ; Russian Старые Куты Staryje Kuty , Polish Kuty Stare ) is a village in the Ukrainian Oblast Ivano-Frankivsk with about 5200 inhabitants (2004).
The village on the edge of the Carpathian Forest has an area of 2234.5 hectares and is the only village in the district council of the same name in Kosiv district . Stari Kuty is 430 m above sea level on the banks of the Cheremosh between Kuty in the southeast of the municipality and the district center of Kosiv 10 kilometers in the northwest. The oblast capital Ivano-Frankivsk is located about 100 km northwest of the village.
The village, first mentioned in 1448, initially belonged to the Ruthenian Voivodeship of the aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania , from 1772 to 1918 to the Austrian Crown Land of Galicia , then from 1918 to 1939 to the Stanislau Voivodeship of the Second Polish Republic and from 1939/1945 to 1991 to the Ukrainian SSR within the Soviet Union . It has been part of independent Ukraine since 1991.
