Location of Steeg in Wuppertal

The Steeg location in the Osterholz residential area in the Vohwinkel district of Wuppertal goes back to an old farm . Today the place is a desert .

A connection with the localities Unter vorm Steeg , Oben vorm Steeg and Steeger Eiche in the former district of Sonnborn is not proven. There is also no evidence of a connection with Steeg in what was then the Lower Honschaft Haan .

location

The Hofschaft was located in the far west of today's district on the municipality border with Haan , on a slope sloping to the south. The forest area Osterholz connects to the north .

Neighboring locations were: Alt-Derken , Osterholz , Simonshöfchen , Ölbers , Zur Linden and Schrotzberg . Belonging to the neighboring community of Haan is neighboring: Birschels and now desolate fallen Mühlenfeld , Isenberg , Klevenhof and Vogelsang .

history

Steeg, a small court, belonged to the Oberste Honschaft Haan in the Bergisch Amt of Solingen until the beginning of the 19th century .

The farm complex belonged to the parish of Haan and came to Vohwinkel in 1894 , which was united with Elberfeld and Barmen to Wuppertal in 1929.

On a map from 1892/94, the location is labeled as 'Sterg'. A previous naming as 'Steg', 'aufm Stich', 'Stip', 'Stick' is mentioned. On the topographic maps (TK25) from 1907 to 1953 then only 'Steeg', on the map from 1963 the location is no longer shown, or the location was razed at that time.

The former street

The street Steeg was named after this location until 1935, when it was renamed 'Alt-Derken'. Before it was named, it was called Steeg until 1935 and then Derken from 1935 .
