Stefan Borg , at times Stefan Lehbert , (* 1954 in Örebro , Sweden ) is a Swedish literary translator and publisher who mainly translates and publishes works of philosophical existentialism into Swedish . He runs the book publisher Nimrod Förlag , which he founded in 1994 and which is now based at his place of residence in the southern Swedish municipality of Hörby . The former German series of the publisher was founded under the name Edition Rugerup in 2005 and was headed by his then wife, the German translator and publisher Margitt Lehbert , in Sweden until 2010 . After divorce, Margitt Lehbert lives again in Berlin , where she has been running Edition Rugerup as an independent publisher since 2011.

Life and career

Stefan Borg served in the Swedish Air Force from 1973 , where he was trained as a fighter pilot . In 1983 he retired from military service and then studied Russian language and literature at Stockholm University until 1985 . During his studies, he was from 1984 to 1985 visiting student at the State University of Moscow in the (then) Soviet Union .

After his return to Sweden he translated works by the Russian philosophers Nikolai Berdjajev (Swedish Nikolaj Berdjajev ) and Leo Schestow (Swedish Lev Sjestov ) from Russian into Swedish. In 1994, Borg founded a book publisher , Nimrod Förlag, in the small town of Guldsmedshyttan in the municipality of Lindesberg . In his small publishing house he began to publish translations of works of philosophical existentialism in Swedish, such as by Schestow and above all by the Danish existential philosopher Søren Kierkegaard (Swedish Sören Kierkegaard ). Among other things, Borg has translated and published eleven writings of Kierkegaard's philosophical work since 1995.

He met his future wife, the German translator Margitt Lehbert , when she was on a scholarship at the Writer's and Translator Center in Visby, Gotland . After completing her studies, Lehbert worked for publishers in the USA and then worked as a freelance translator in Berlin, the Netherlands and most recently again in Berlin. Stefan Borg and Margitt Lehbert married, with Borg taking the surname Lehbert, but still using his maiden name when he was a translator and publisher. The couple lived and worked in Berlin for a few years and moved to Sweden soon after the birth of their two children. In 2005 his wife became his publishing partner in his Swedish Nimrod Förlag AB and headed the German series, which appeared under the name Edition Rugerup and mainly presented international poetry in German translation. Stefan and Margitt Lehbert were divorced around 2010. Stefan Borg resumed his maiden name, while Margitt Lehbert returned to Germany and has lived in Berlin ever since. Since 2011 she has continued Edition Rugerup there as an independent and now German book publisher.

Stefan Borg lives in the southern Swedish province of Skåne län (historical province of Scania ) near the village of Önneköp, which belongs to the municipality of Hörby. In 2014 he headed the electoral list of the nationalist Sverigedemokraterna for the local council in Hörby.

Activity as a publisher
