Stefan Heidtmann

Stefan Heidtmann (* 1958 in Bergneustadt ) is a German jazz musician .

Career

Heidtmann completed a music and piano course from 1976 to 1984 at the Cologne University of Music with an artistic maturity examination in piano.

Projects as a pianist and composer between contemporary chamber music and open, European-influenced avant-garde jazz led him a. a. with Gerd Dudek and younger musicians from the Cologne scene, such as Roger Hanschel , Albrecht Maurer , Christian Ramond , Achim Tang and Christian Thomé , but also with Heribert Leuchter , Vitold Rek , Arkady Shilkloper and Christoph Spendel .

Numerous productions such as the Stefan Heidtmann Project , Ornaments of Light and Sound with Roger Hanschel and Klaus Kugel or windsleepers around the Strasbourg musicians Christine Clément and Roby Glod were released on their own record label shaa-music .

He was a prizewinner at the Cologne jazz art festival 2002 with the Stefan Heidtmann Project, a band with Gerd Dudek, Reiner Winterschladen , Dieter Manderscheid and Klaus Kugel , which aims to realize his ideas of composition and improvisation in the border area between jazz and new music. Tours took him through Europe, Asia and Latin America, where he made the German contribution to the 2002 EURO Jazz Festival in Mexico City. In 2006 he participated in the Nanjing Jazz Festival with the Albrecht Maurer Quartet .

In November 2011 he received the culture award of the Oberbergischer Kreis in Gummersbach in the music section.
