Career

Kogler was multiple German youth champion. The first victory in an FIS race he succeeded in December 1999. In 2000 and 2001 he took part in two Junior World Championships . His greatest success so far was at the 2001 World Junior Championships in Verbier , when he won the gold medal in slalom. He was then allowed to start in the World Cup for the first time at the season finale in Åre , but was eliminated in the first round.

On February 10, 2002, Kogler won his first points in the European Cup in the Sappada slalom and the next day he finished seventh in the second slalom for the first time among the top ten. After a further seventh place at the end of the season in Le Grand-Bornand , however, he did not achieve any further top 10 results in the next few years. It was not until the winter of 2004/05 that he drove back into the top ten in several European Cup races and also became German slalom champion . From January 2004 Kogler took part increasingly in World Cup slaloms, but initially did not reach the second round in any race. In the European Cup he achieved two second places in the slaloms of Nauders and Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the 2007/08 season and achieved third place in the slalom classification with another five top 10 results.

At the beginning of the 2008/09 season , Kogler won his first and only World Cup points. On November 16, 2008, he finished 16th in the Levi slalom and 18th in the Alta Badia slalom on December 22nd, but after that he made it to the second round like never before in any race. At the 2009 World Cup in Val-d'Isère , he also failed in the first round. In the European Cup he achieved several top 10 results in the 2008/09 and 2009/10 seasons. In March 2010 he became German slalom champion for the second time and he won the bronze medal in slalom at the 2010 Winter Military World Games in Pila .

After no successes in the 2010/11 season , Kogler ended his career in April 2011. He now works as a trainer in the German Ski Association.
