Stefan Leunig (* 5. May 1986 in Osterode am Harz ) is a German middle and long distance runner and former cross-country running - Sommerbiathlet .

Stefan Leunig was initially active for WSV Clausthal-Zellerfeld , moved to Hannover 96 in 2005 and to Eintracht Hildesheim in 2011 . As a biathlete, he took part in the Junior World Championships three times: in 2002 in Jablonec nad Nisou. 2003 in Forni Avoltri as 26th of the sprint, 25th of the pursuit, 21st of the mass start race and with Alexander Röder and Tobias Fickenscher seventh of the relay race. In 2004 Osrblie came in 36th place in the sprint, 32nd place in the pursuit and eighth place with Markus Hartmann and Florian Grimm in the relay. In 2004 he won the national title in Bayerisch Eisenstein alongside Arnold Müller and Wilhelm Rösch with the small-bore squadron and in 2007 was surprisingly runner-up in the small-bore sprint in Frankenhain behind Frank Röttgen and ahead of Robert Janikulla .

Since he switched to athletics, Leunig, who works in tax consulting and is completing a distance learning course, has mainly focused on the middle distances from 1500 m to 5000 m. At the North German Championships in 2009 in Lübeck he was second over 5000 m, in 2011 in Celle third over 5000 m.
