Stefan Pomereke (born July 4, 1973 in Neuruppin ) is a German volleyball player . As a beach volleyball player , he took part in the first official beach volleyball world championship in 1997 with Sven Anton .

Career indoor volleyball

Pomereke played in the junior national team and until 1999 for the Bundesliga club Post Telekom Berlin , with Frank Dehne , Frank Winkler , Lars Nilsson, Ilja Wiederschein , André Barnowski , André Fröhlich and his beach partner Sven Anton , among others . Under coach Michael Mücke, the club reached the final tournament for the DVV-Pokal in 1995 and won the game for third place against Dürener TV after surprisingly knocking out future German champions ASV Dachau in the quarter-finals . In 1999 Pomereke moved to local rivals Eintracht Innova Berlin . After only one season, the outside attacker left Berlin and went to the Bavarian league rivals ASV Dachau. Here he played in the first division until 2005 and then in the second division until 2008. Afterwards Pomereke played in the regional league at TSV Starnberg and in the Bayern league and senior team at ASV Dachau III.

Career beach volleyball

In addition to his career as an indoor volleyball player, Pomereke played beach volleyball with his former teammate Sven Anton since 1995 during the summer break of the Bundesliga . At the domestic world series tournament of the FIVB in Berlin in 1996, the duo managed for the first time to qualify for the main round of an international tournament in which a surprising victory against the multiple overall world series winner Sinjin Smith and his partner Carl Henkel succeeded. In the end, Anton / Pomereke finished 17th both in Berlin and at the next tournament in Durban . From 1996 to 1999 the duo took part in a total of 17 tournaments in the world series (14 of them in 1997 and 1998 alone); best placement was a 13th place in Berlin 1997. In the same year they reached 17th place at the first official beach volleyball world championship in Los Angeles , tied with Krank / Oetke and the Olympic third-placed Ahmann / Hager . While other German, internationally active beach duos at the time, such as Ahmann / Hager and Dieckmann / Dieckmann, mainly concentrated on beach volleyball, Anton and Pomereke were also part of the Bundesliga regular line-up of their club at the time.

At the national level, the Anton / Pomereke duo was more successful. So they temporarily occupied second place in the German rankings and in 1997 they reached third place in the German championship with a win against the Dieckmann twins. The duo separated after the beach season in 1999 when Sven Anton moved to Düren.

Stefan Pomereke's brother Martin , who is twelve years his junior , also plays volleyball.
