politics

In November 1999 Rebmann organized an aid transport to Adapazari in Turkey to help the people affected by a severe earthquake . The transport consisted of residential containers, which were urgently needed as emergency accommodation. In addition, clothing and food donations were given to the population. Rebmann accompanied the aid convoy and personally helped set up the residential containers. The earthquake struck on August 17th and had a magnitude of 7.6 on the Richter scale. This makes it one of the worst natural disasters of the 20th century. A total of around 18,000 people were killed and around 50,000 were injured in the affected area.

In 2007 Rebmann was elected chairman of the SPD Schwetzingen and in 2009 a member of the Schwetzingen municipal council. He held this mandate until his entry into the German Bundestag in 2011. From 2006 to 2009 he was a member of the SPD state executive committee for Baden-Württemberg.

In the federal elections in 2005 and 2009, Stefan Rebmann ran as a candidate for the SPD. First for the constituency of Bruchsal-Schwetzingen , then for the constituency of Mannheim . However, due to the overall poor result of the SPD in the 2009 election, he did not succeed in entering parliament. In 2011, however, he replaced the retired Peter Friedrich in the German Bundestag. Rebmann was deputy chairman of the Committee on Economic Cooperation and Development. In this role he was particularly committed to improving health care in developing countries. In addition, he was a deputy member of various committees. These included the Committee on Labor and Social Affairs, the Subcommittee on Civilian Crisis Prevention, Conflict Management and Networked Action, and the Parliamentary Advisory Council on Sustainable Development. In addition to his political engagement, Rebmann played in the football club of the German Bundestag, the FC Bundestag . This hosted games for charitable purposes. Thanks to Rebmann's initiative, a benefit game against MFC Phönix Mannheim took place in December 2012.
