Stefan Schönegg

Stefan Schönegg (* 1986 in Heppenheim ) is a German jazz and improvisation musician ( double bass ).

Live and act

Schönegg grew up in Constance . First he studied classical double bass at the "Hanns Eisler" University of Music in Berlin , before studying jazz double bass in Cologne from 2010. Since then he has lived there and works in the field of tension between improvised music, jazz and new music . He played from the mid-2010s a. a. with Yoshiko Klein and Fabian Jung , in the Simon Nabatov Trio and in a trio with Philip Zoubek and Etienne Nillesen , also in the formations Botter around Dierk Peters and Julian Ritter , Schmid's Huhn around Stefan Karl Schmid and Leonhard Huhn , Die Fichten with Leonhard Huhn and Dominik Mahnig , with Gregor Siedl and Niklas Wandt in the Trio Notdurft , in the quartet of the singer Laura Totenhagen , in the Uchronia quartet around Salim Javaid and Marlies Debacker and in the RO (we) TOR ensemble - restrictive concepts for freedom-loving musicians around Carl Ludwig Hübsch . He also performed with Arto Lindsay , Theo Bleckmann , Eve Risser , Tetsu Saitō and Bernd Konrad , among others .

Schönegg is a founding member of the Cologne collective for improvisation and current music IMPAKT , which regularly organizes concerts in Cologne and maintains an event calendar and a label for improvised music.
