Eve Risser (2018)

Eve Risser (* 1982 ) is a French jazz and improvisation musician ( flute , (prepared) piano , toy instruments , electronics) and composer .

Life

Risser, who grew up in Alsace, first received classical flute and piano lessons. She performed chamber music before getting into improvised music and jazz. She studied in eastern France, Paris and Baltimore . In September 2008 she invited Daniel Yvinec to the Orchester National de Jazz , with whom she participated in the Robert Wyatt project Around Robert Wyatt (2009) and the John Hollenbeck album Shut Up and Dance (2010). In 2011 she worked with the band PAK around Ron Anderson ( Secret Curve ), but also performed with Pascal Niggenkemper and Émilie Lesbros in the Cologne Loft and then belonged to his ensemble Vision 7 . In 2012 she presented the album En Corps , which was created in a trio with Benjamin Duboc and Edward Perraud , which was followed by another album with the same line-up in 2017. Risser is currently also working as a soloist and in the formations Donkey Monkey (with Yuko Oshima ), The New Songs (with Kim Myhr , Sofia Jernberg and David Stackenäs ), Fenêtre Ovale (with Karl Naegelen and Joris Rühl ).

Risser performed in 2010 in the duo Donkey Monkey at the Moers Festival . She continues to play solo concerts, writes for various ensembles and runs the Umlaut label . Her project White Desert Orchestra , which was first presented at the 2015 Banlieues Bleues Festival in Paris, deals with the sound of vastness as it can be experienced in the Grand Canyon in Arizona.

Risser lives in Paris.
