Steinach an der Steinach is a district of the Mitwitz market in the Upper Franconian district of Kronach in Bavaria . Steinach was part of the former municipality of Hofsteinach , which consisted of the districts Steinach an der Steinach and Hof an der Steinach . The place was named after the Steinach river . Floods are sometimes to be expected twice a year, building measures to prevent them are planned.

history

The first mention was in 1251 in a papal confirmation for the Michelsberg monastery , in which a grain farm in Steinach was described as a monastic property. In 1327 Heinrich von Schaumberg renounced his bailiff right over the cloister mill at the cloister courtyard in Steinach in an exchange deal with the abbey . In 1485 the abbey sold its property to the Electorate of Saxony .

In 1574 Hans Berthold von Rosenau sold his grain and hay tithe to Hans Ott von Redwitz . 1644 acquired Wilhelm von Redwitz from Hans Veit III. von Würtzburg acquired another part of the tithe rights.

On January 1, 1970, the communities Steinach an der Steinach and Hof an der Steinach formed the new community Hofsteinach in the district of Coburg .

Hofsteinach was reclassified on July 1, 1972 from the Coburg district to the Kronach district. On January 1, 1974, the Hofsteinach community was dissolved and incorporated into the Mitwitz market in the Kronach district.
