Horb an der Steinach (officially: Horb adSteinach ) is a district of the Upper Franconian market Mitwitz in the Kronach district in Bavaria .

geography

Horb an der Steinach is about 18 kilometers southeast of Coburg in the Steinachtal at the foot of the Schimmelleite. The place is in the middle of the floodplain of the Steinach. The state road 2208 connects the place with Mitwitz and Leutendorf . A community road leads to Lochleithen and Hof an der Steinach .

history

In 1135, Horb was first mentioned in a document as "Horwa" when goods were handed over to Michelsberg Monastery . In 1284 the settlement was called "Horve". The word is derived from "horo", which means something like swamp and comes from the location on the Steinach lowland.

In 1485 the abbey sold its property complex to the Electorate of Saxony , which later became the Duchy of Saxony-Coburg . As a result, the place belonged to the Saxon manor Hassenberg . In 1812, Horb was repared from the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Schmölz to Gestungshausen . The children went to school in Leutendorf. The hamlet of Lochleithen was a district.

In a referendum on November 30, 1919, 3 citizens of Horber voted for the Free State of Coburg to join the Thuringian state and 26 against. Thus, from July 1, 1920, Horb also belonged to the Free State of Bavaria .

In 1925, Horb had 99 residents and 17 residential buildings. 8 people lived in 2 houses in Lochleithen. In 1920 the Steinachtalbahn was built east of Horb , which was dismantled in 1992.

Horb an der Steinach was reclassified on July 1, 1972 from the Coburg district to the Kronach district. On January 1, 1977, the community was incorporated into Mitwitz .

In 1987 the village had 67 residents and 18 houses. In Lochleithen 13 people lived in 4 houses.
