Leutendorf is a district of the Upper Franconian market Mitwitz in the Kronach district in Bavaria .

geography

Leutendorf is located about 18 kilometers southeast of Coburg in the Steinachtal at the foot of the Leutendorfer Forest. The state road 2208 connects the place with Mitwitz and Beikheim . The place is connected to Häusles via a spur road .

history

The place name goes back to a person with the name Liutfried, Luitpolt or Luitger. Around 1190 Heinrich von Lichtenfels acquired an estate in Lvitendorf and later bequeathed part of it to the Michelsberg monastery . In 1196 the settlement was called "Lutendorf". In 1263 Albrecht von Leutendorf handed over his goods in Leutendorf to the Sonnefeld monastery . In 1325 Adelheid and Engelhard von Langenstadt sold their property to Leutendorf to the monastery. In 1353 the place with the Coburg Land came by inheritance to the Wettins and was thus part of the Electorate of Saxony from 1485 , from which the Duchy of Saxony-Coburg later emerged. In 1514 the Sonnefeld monastery owned the village. In 1526 the monastery was closed as a result of the Reformation . After the death of Duke Albrecht in 1699, Leutendorf came to Sachsen-Hildburghausen in 1705 as an exclave of the Sonnefeld office . In 1826 the office of Sonnefeld came back to Saxony-Coburg in accordance with the Hildburghausen partition agreement .

In 1842 the school association of the villages of Leutendorf, Mödlitz, Horb and Lochleithen planned to build a school. At the beginning of the 1830s, Leutendorf was re-parished from the Evangelical Lutheran church district Schmölz to Gestungshausen . The fire brigade was founded in 1835. Districts were the hamlet of Häusles and the wasteland of Rotberg. A Steinach bridge was built at the end of the 19th century.

In 1920 Leutendorf got a connection to the railway network with the Steinachtalbahn . In 1992 the line was dismantled.

Leutendorf, then Leutendorf near Coburg, was reclassified from the Coburg district to the Kronach district on July 1, 1972. On January 1, 1976, the community was incorporated into Mitwitz .

In 1987 the village had 94 inhabitants and 22 houses.
