Steinbrücken is a district of the Dietzhölztal community in the Lahn-Dill district in central Hesse and bears its name after two stone bridges, which no longer exist today, on which the Cologne - Leipzig road crossed the Dietzhölze in two trains above and below the present-day town . It is possible that Friedrich Steinbrücker (Stenenbruckere), who is mentioned in 1283 as a witness for Count Siegfried von Wittgenstein in a document for the Caldern monastery near Marburg , can be associated with the place.
Geographical location
The town center lies on the eastern slope of the mountains Sasenberg (442.7 m above sea level) and Stein (377.2 m above sea level) above the Dietzhölze (about 330 m above sea level). The highest mountain in the district is the Homberg (446.4 m above sea level)
history
Stone bridges were originally part of the Ewersbach district . In 1823 it was given its own district, which was formed from parcels of the surrounding villages.
On February 1, 1971, as part of the regional reform in Hesse, Steinbrücken and Ewersbach merged on a voluntary basis to form Dietzhölztal . On April 1, 1972 the incorporation of almonds and on January 1, 1977 by state law that of Rittershausen took place . Local districts were not formed in the Dietzhölztal community.
