Steinfurt is a northern district of Stolberg (Rhld.) In the Aachen city region . It lies between the Propsteier forest and the Donnerberg and forms a double district with Velau . The mean height is 180 meters above sea ​​level . The L 238 state road , which runs parallel to the Inde, runs through Steinfurt.On the city limits of Eschweiler , between Inde and L 238, there is the sewage treatment plant of the same name , in which the sewage of the Saubach has also been treated since 2007 , caused by the rinsing out of the Vegla polderand the waste dump of the former Kali-Chemie in the Atsch is heavily polluted ( water quality class IV).

There has been an industrial park in Steinfurt since the early 1990s. A road ("Steinfurt" or "Obere Steinfurt") connects the L 238 at this point over the Donnerberg with the Oberstolberger bypass.

On January 1, 1935, Steinfurt came to Stolberg from Eschweiler. The city limits there have been slightly changed several times since then.

The next motorway junction is Eschweiler-West on the A 4 . The nearest train station is Stolberg Hbf . A bus line connects Steinfurt with Stolberg-Mitte, Pump-Stich and Eschweiler-Mitte.
