Renovation in the 20th century

The old town was renovated in the 1970s and 1980s with the support of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia .

According to a council resolution, Burgstrasse was to be expanded to four-lane car- friendly in the 1960s, and for this purpose the development on the right-hand side was to be put down, as was the case with some residential buildings and copper yards. The project was not completed due to lack of funds.
