Finsterau is a south-western part of the Stolberg district of Zweifall in the Aachen city region near the city limits of Roetgen . The Vichtbach flows west of Finsterau . With the incorporation of Zweifalls on January 1, 1972, Finsterau came to Stolberg.

The next AVV bus stop is "Zweifall-Kirche" in the town center (lines 8 and 42). Finsterau is on the L 238 in the direction of Mulartshütte . The next junction is " Aachen-Brand " on the A44 .

The place is largely enclosed by forest (Münsterwald in the west and Zweifaller Wald in the east) and a starting point for hikes or walks. In Finsterau there is a tennis facility as well as leisure homes of the ASEAG and the Aachen gymnastics community.
