Stephan Detjen

Stephan Detjen (born February 23, 1965 in Bayreuth ) is a German journalist and chief correspondent for Deutschlandradios in the station's Berlin studio. From June 2008 to March 2012 he was editor-in-chief of Deutschlandfunk .

Life

After completing his military service, Stephan Detjen studied law and history in Munich , Aix-en-Provence and Speyer from 1986 . He completed his legal training in 1991 ( first state examination ) and 1994 ( second state examination ), studying ancient and modern history in 1995 as a master’s degree .

From 1992 he worked in the newsroom of Bayerischer Rundfunk . From 1997 to 1999 he worked as a correspondent for Deutschlandradio and ARD radio in Karlsruhe , reporting from there on the Federal Constitutional Court and the Federal Court of Justice . He then moved to the Berlin studio of Deutschlandradio as an editor . Since February 1, 2005, he has been head of the Current Culture department at Funkhaus Berlin . There he played a key role in the development of the radio feuilleton , a six-hour radio program of the national cultural radio station Deutschlandradio Kultur, new in form and content . In June 2008 he succeeded Dieter Jepsen-Föge as editor -in- chief of Deutschlandfunk in Cologne. Since April 2012 he has been chief correspondent for Deutschlandradio in the station's capital city studio. His successor as editor in chief was Birgit Wentzien .

Stephan Detjen is a member of the board of directors of the Federal Press Conference , of the Board of Trustees for the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade , of the Board of Trustees of the German Study Prize and of the jury for the media prize of the German Bundestag .

In the winter of 2015, Detjen took on a guarantee for an unlimited period at that time for the legal entry of a Syrian war refugee as part of the initiative of the refugee sponsors Syria . In June 2019 Detjen criticized the Bundestag's anti- BDS resolution .
