Stephan Krass

Stephan Krass (born September 9, 1951 in Ochtrup / Westphalia ) is a German writer and university professor.

Life

Stephan Krass studied German , philosophy and sociology . He received his doctorate in 2005 with a poetological work at the University of Mannheim for doctor of philosophy. Until 2017 he worked as an editor in the radio literature department of Südwestrundfunk in Baden-Baden , where he was responsible for the radio essay. In addition, he has written essays and reviews for various newspapers and magazines as well as radio features and radio plays . He gave audio books a . a. on Theodor W. Adorno and Niklas Luhmann , organized cultural studies lecture series and congresses and held teaching positions at universities in Germany and abroad. He has been teaching literature at the Karlsruhe University of Art and Design since 2005, and has been an honorary professor for literary art since 2015. Krass is also a lecturer at the Institute for Literary Writing and Literary Studies at the University of Hildesheim and works as a project manager for the Ursula Blickle Foundation. As a literary author, Krass is primarily concerned with language games , in particular with anagrams , which he has also presented in the form of performances , public installations and exhibitions since the late 1990s . At the invitation of Hans Magnus Enzensberger, he wrote an anagram poem for his poetry machine. The poetry machine has been hanging in the Museum of Modern Literature in Marbach since 2006 and is alternately played with texts by Enzensberger and Krass. With his literature seminar at the HfG Karlsruhe, Krass developed the review machine CENSEO / GENERO (2007) and the book machine KLAK (2012), both of which can now be seen at the Center for Art and Media Technology (ZKM) Karlsruhe.

Today Krass lives in Karlsruhe and New York City .
