Stephan Lauber

Stephan Lauber (born April 25, 1970 in Schlüchtern ) is a Roman Catholic theologian and full professor for Old Testament exegesis , Old Testament introductory studies and Biblical-Semitic languages ​​at the theological faculty in Fulda .

Life

Lauber comes from Ahl , a district of Bad Soden-Salmünster . After graduating from the Ulrich-von-Hutten-Gymnasium in Schlüchtern, he began his studies in Fulda in 1989 and in 1992, after a semester in Munich, switched to the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome , where he was an alum in the Germanicum , the German-Hungarian seminary, and studied as a scholarship holder of the Cusanuswerk . In the Roman Jesuit Church of Sant'Ignazio he was ordained a deacon in 1995 by Bishop Maximilian Aichern OSB and in 1996 by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger , then Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, ordained a priest. In 1998 he acquired the Pontifical Biblical Institute , the licentiate in Sacred Scripture .

He then worked as a chaplain in the Kassel parish of St. Bonifatius before Archbishop Johannes Dyba released him in 2000 to study for a doctorate, which he took up at the Albert Ludwigs University in Freiburg im Breisgau with Hubert Irsigler . There he was in 2005 with a study on the book of Malachi to Dr. theol. PhD. In the same year he received the Erfurt doctoral award “Religion and Ethics” for his dissertation.

Afterwards - after a short subsidiary activity in Hanau - from the winter semester 2005/06 he was a research assistant at the chair for Old Testament at the University of Friborg / Switzerland with Hans Ulrich Steyman's OP . In addition to his university duties, he took over numerous regular church services at the cathedral in Freiburg and in various communities in the surrounding area. In 2012 he completed his habilitation with a thesis on the job book .

As a private lecturer, Lauber held teaching positions in Freiburg / Switzerland, at the University of Mainz and at the Catholic seminary in Marburg . In addition, he was in Marburg at the Kugelkirche as well as in the parish of Fronhausen and Lohra Subsidiar since summer 2015 .

In addition to a number of specialist articles in various journals and anthologies, he has published numerous biblically oriented sermons and a monograph with brief interpretations of the readings from the Old Testament at Sunday Mass. In addition, since 2003 he has been accompanying groups on pilgrimage and study trips to the Holy Land on a regular basis .
